JPSpyder - Searches through web sites for email
addresses and puts them in a list. Allows you to save the list to a text file.
This program is not intended to be used in an illegal manner.
I wrote this program to get the email addresses off of the web
sites that I administer. I use this to verify the email addresses
and keep the sites updated. Any illegal use of this program will
be of the users choice and not of mine. I accept no responsibility
for sinister use of this program.
Now that we've got the legal crap out of the way....
Description:
This program will grab all links on the start page and put them
in the "Captured Links" list box. Then it will cycle through all
of the links in the "Captured Links" list, scanning for email
addresses as well as more links. If the program finds an email
address it will put it in the "Captured Email Addresses" list.
(It will not duplicate the email addresses or links). If it finds
a link it will add it to the bottom of the "Capured Links" list
until the link list has reached its maximum value set by the
"Max Links" text box.
The "Lock" check box will lock the link search down to this site
and this site only. For instance, if you were searching through
"JeffAlter.net" and the lock was off, (default off) , if the program
found a link to yahoo.com, it would add all of the links found at
yahoo.com. If the lock was on, (checked), the program would
disregard any links that did not have the word "JeffAlter" in them.
JPSpyder will cycle through all of the links pausing for Zero
seconds (default = 0). You can change the time to pause by
adjusting the "Timer" text box. A value of 1 equals one second.
To keep from disturbing a servers processor time, I strongly
suggest you set this to a value of 15 or so. Get a cup of coffee
and check back later to see if it is through. The Start Link Capture
button will become "ungreyed" when the program has completed.
Instructions:
Type the name of a server or web page into the "Site or Page
to begin:" text box. Click "Start Link Capture: or press "Enter" to
start the program or make the following adjustments:
Set the "Timer" text box. A value of 1 equals one second. This
will pause the program inbetween links. A value of zero means
there will be no pause at all.
Set the "Max Links" text box. The program will run faster with
a low setting. A value of 100 means that you will open up a
maximum of 100 web pages to search for email addresses before
quitting. Plus one for the original link in the "Site or Page
to Begin" text box.
Press the "Start Link Capture" button. If you want to stop the
capture, click the "Stop Link Capture" button.
